Caroline Bachmann
Caroline Bachmann, born in Lausanne in 1963, lives and works between Cully and Berlin. Her figurative oil paintings are characterised by a synthetic pictorial language that develops in a very slow studio practice, the primary aim of which is to deepen, extend and even dilute the production time. The painter also explores climatic time by investigating the minute variations in the external environment. After noting various indications - lines, colours, light, temperature - she (re)constructs the painting in the studio, putting down on canvas the effect of time on her, in terms of form, memory, affects and feelings. Working on numerous paintings in parallel, Caroline Bachmann multiplies and connects temporalities and subjects.
More about Caroline
With her poster, Caroline Bachmann invites us to look at a tree or a plant and then, by closing our eyes, to imagine its roots. Using simple signs and motifs that are recognisable despite potential language barriers, the artist succeeds in encouraging an action that is as easy as it is unusual: the mental representation of invisible elements.
