Zoological Museum
The Zoological Museum Kiel, a university institution rich in historical and modern collections, is located at the interface of research, teaching and public communication. Its exhibitions, which are based on a valuable zoological collection, offer a contemporary perspective on zoology, marine research and evolution. The large skeleton ‘Monument for 308’ by Andreas Greiner in the entrance hall is the product of critical reflection on the creation of new species. Mark Dion's works, on the other hand, combine humour and criticism to question our modern view of nature and man's relationship to it. They encourage us to rethink our understanding of biodiversity. The two artists create a stimulating dialogue with the museum's collection and question the traditional anthropocentric perspective that places humans at the centre of the universe.
