N55 is a Copenhagen-based collective founded in 1994 by Ion Sorvin and later complemented by the collaboration with Till Wolfer. The collective works with a strong focus on social, ecological and urban issues at the intersection of art, design and architecture. Their projects often combine mobility, sustainability and participatory processes by creating functional and experimental structures that challenge and redefine the relationship between people and the environment.
N55's works are known for their DIY aesthetic and collaborative approach. With projects such as the ‘Walking House’, a modular, self-moving living space, and ‘Harbor Laboratory’, a floating platform for ecological research, they explore the possibilities of alternative ways of living in a changing environment. Their interdisciplinary work aims to offer practical solutions to current global challenges and at the same time open up poetic and visionary perspectives.

More about N55

The Reconnecting-Bike - designed by N55, Ion Sorvin and Till Wolfer - is characterised by its modular, evolutionary and collective nature, making it a unique work of art. For this iteration, they have developed a library cargo bike that will be gradually developed and rebuilt as part of the upcoming biennials of (re)connecting.earth. The bike embodies the idea of exchange and emphasises the principles of modularity and adaptability. This flexibility makes it possible to adapt the bicycle to different purposes and locations.

A team of mediators accompanies the bicycle and invites people to linger and talk at various locations in the city. The cargo bike can be found on Wednesdays and Fridays from 12 noon to 6 p.m. at various locations in the city, which are listed on the website. It offers the opportunity to borrow headphones to listen to the work of Alexandre Joly. Selected books on the themes of reconnecting.earth will also be available for reading and discussion. Materials for realising some of the 22 art instructions can also be requested. Certificates are also available, emphasising the participatory element of the project.
